BREAKING BAD...THOUGHTS

21 days. It is said it takes 21 days to break a habit. 21 days for the pathways in your brain that have been strengthened by bad habits to weaken. 21 DAYS. That is only three weeks. Three weeks that could change the way that you live your life. THREE WEEKS that can change your INDENTITY.

We are wonderfully made by our Creator. He has given us a brain that can change the way we PERCEIVE the world around us with only a little bit of practice and focus. We ALL can be happier if we choose to be. We ALL can have a life of peace if we trust in Him. But how? How do we change our minds?

Could the answer be to simply change what we focus on? Instead of focusing on all the bad things in our lives, we focus on all the good. Instead of focusing on all the things we want to change about ourselves, we focus on all the things we LOVE about ourselves. By loving ourselves, could we change ourselves? Or change our perceptions of who we are?

Paul said in his letter to the Philippians:
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

This is going to be my challenge to myself. Everyday, I am going to focus on what is TRUE, NOBLE, PURE, LOVELY, ADMIRABLE, EXCELLENT, and PRAISEWORTHY. And I am going to allow you all to go on that journey with me. Maybe, just maybe, I can change my identity of an unhappy, unfulfilled, VICTIM to a women full of JOY and PEACE.

Those who know me, know that I did something very similar for Lent this year. And I DID change. For 40 days I gave up negative self-talk. And for months I felt better. My self-image had strengthened. I started to like myself. And dare I say it, I even started to LOVE myself. But like many of you know, it is much easier to MAKE a habit than BREAK a habit. It is also a lot easier to fall back into a bad habit once broken.

So, here I go AGAIN. I would also ask of you all to keep me in your prayers as I take these next steps in my faith and life. I can use ALL the encouragement I can get.
